“I dreamed that CapSU-Tapaz will be recognized not only in Capiz, but maybe the whole country, and the whole world as a globally competitive university.”

These are the words that came from Professor Solcristy G. Legario, the newly appointed College Satellite Director of Capiz State University-Tapaz Satellite Campus, when asked about her plans and dreams for the campus. Indeed, the board of directors did not fail in choosing a new spearhead, for anyone could see the sincerity of her aspirations and plans for the school whenever she talk about it.

Born on the 16th of October year 1954 and with 62 years of existence in this world, this modest professor believes that everything that she has in her life now is destined to her by the power of the Lord.

Professor Legario is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Biology at Western Institute of Technology. This woman has no plan of being a teacher, but her “calling” pushed her to take units in teaching at Central Philippine University. She then took up her masters in General Science at CapSU- Buri-as. She started teaching since 1979 and became a principal at Panay State Polytechnic College (the old name of CapSU- Tapaz) for 5-6 years. She was designated as the chairperson of Cultural Affairs, Office of the Student Affairs, and the Grievance Committee respectively until she became the program chairperson of Teacher’s Education Department for almost 10 years. Afterwards, she was assigned to the HR Department for 3 years and became as Supply

officer for 3 years as well. During those three last years, she became the Faculty Federation President for CapSU-TAPAZ and recognized to be the Assistant Secretary for CapSU-fair for the whole Capiz. All these positions, and at last, she was appointed and approved by the board to be the College Satellite Director of CapSU-TAPAZ effective this year without even applying for it, for the board knew how capable and effective she is with this position.

We all could say, this woman is nothing but a perfect person to be chosen as the Satellite Director of the campus. Her loyalty and perseverance to serve, not only the school but the whole town of Tapaz, to produce a great quality of graduates makes her a gem to everyone of us.

Her secret to success? It is her faith with God and the mindset she has within herself to stay her feet on the ground no matter what position may she get or achievement may she have. She offers every move and actions she make to God. And so with that, she lives by the principle, “Be humble with yourself and the Lord shall lift you up.”

Some may say she’s not that approachable enough to deal with based on her appearance, but if you try to talk to her and know her personality, you’ll surely see a motherly and honest image through her.

If anything there is to be admired most from all the things about her, it is the fact that out of all the important people, she is the most simple and genuine of all. She admits she is not perfect, and that she has some battle to fight for within herself. But so are we, and those imperfections make us human after all. *
